Lyrids is an annual meteor shower starting around April 16th and ending around April 26th every year.
The Peak shower this year will be on night of 22nd April. There will be on average 10-20 meteors per hour and at peak it may possibly reach to 100 meteors per hour.
Lyrid Meteor takes place as our planet passes through debris left by the tail of the Comet Thatcher. The meteors are actually little bits of that debris, often no larger than a grain of sand, that burn up in Earth's atmosphere, causing light to streak across the sky.
The moon will be almost full and very bright during the shower's peak, the best viewing will likely be between 3 a.m . and 5 a.m. Monday, after the moon has set but before dawn renders the meteors invisible.
So let`s get our blankets and alarm clock together and enjoy the spectacular show of meteor shower.
