National Space Conference 2013, Chandigarh, india

The International Space Society (ISS) and Society for Promotion of Science and Technology in India (SPSTI) are jointly organising a two day national space conference, which will be organised on April 4,5 at Tagore Theatre, Chandigarh.

The central theme of conference is astronomy. The main objective of holding the conference is to expose the young minds to current theories on the constitution and development of the universe. Renowned astrophysicist Dr Jayant Narlikar will speak on the 'amazing world of astronomy' and 'search for micro-life in the earth's atmosphere'. Other highlight of conference is night sky-watching and a quiz on astronomy for children to be conducted by professors J S Bagla of IISER, Mohali and Sandeep Sahijpal of the department of physics, Punjab University.

Six experts from institutes like IUCCA Pune, ISRO- Delhi University, Panjab University and IISER-Mohali will make their in depth presentations. The presentation will cover 'getting a measure of the universe', 'evolution of stars' and 'the milky-way galaxy' among others. 'Careers in Astronomy' will also be an attractive session for the students.

This will be a interesting an opportunity for young students to understand and interact with experts from astronomy field. This will attract and channelize these young minds in field of astronomy. The conference is free and open to all.
